World leaders offer condolences over Sharon's death

U.S President Barack Obama joined other world leaders in expressing their sorrow on the demise of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

Obama send his condolences to the former Israeli Prime Minister’s family and the people of Israel on behalf of America.

Obama said that America appreciates the enduring friendship between the two nations and its people and reaffirmed its unshakable commitment to Israel’s security, Fox News reports.

Appreciating the former Israeli leader’s ability to take bold decisions for the pursuit of peace, British Prime Minister David Cameron said that Israel has lost an important leader today and deemed him as one of the most significant figures in the history of Israel.

President of the State of Israel Shimon Peres praised Sharon calling him a brave soldier and a daring leader who loved his nation and was loved by people.

Secretary of State John Kerry said that Ariel’s dream of Israel was the cause of his life, and he risked it all to live that dream, and expressed his admiration for the man who was determined to ensure the security and survival of the Jewish State.

Sharon was elected prime minister in 2001. He fought in three wars before entering politics.
