Money Matters with Nimi: 9 Financial Resolutions You Should Have For the New Year

A new year brings with it a sense of renewal and the age-old tradition of new-year resolutions helps you to focus on making positive changes in various aspects of your life. New Year Resolutions often include a declaration to exercise more regularly and maintain a healthier lifestyle, to lose weight, to read a book a month, to be a better mother, father, sister or friend; these are usually abandoned even before the end of January.
Financial resolutions are often ignored; here are a few to set you on the right footing for 2015. Do not try to initiate them all at once; just elect say three or four that you can begin to address.
Get Organised
An annual review of your personal finances is necessary as finances are dynamic; needs, goals, jobs, and family situations change. Do you have a clear picture of where you stand financially? Start by gathering and organizing your paperwork: bank statements, investment certificates, insurance policies, title deeds, your will, and other financial documents.

A New Year message to Nigeria’s youth from Muhammadu Buhari

...and here's Gen. Buhari's New Year message to Nigerian youths... As we welcome the year 2015, I have shared a message to Nigerians in general, but I find it crucial to send another message directly to Nigeria’s youth, who are the major stakeholders of this enterprise. The year 2014 was a challenging one for most citizens of our dear country.

AirAsia flight found upside down at the bottom of the sea, passengers found holding hands

Indonesian search officials have now confirmed they have located the fuselage of AirAsia flight 8501 on sonar radar, upside down on the sea floor, not far from where three of the bodies from the doomed AirAsia flight were found holding hands when discovered floating in the Java Sea. Officials from Basarnas,

Indonesia's search and rescue agency, say the plane wreckage has been located in 24 to 30 metres of water and one of the seven confirmed recovered bodies was wearing a life jacket. Lieutenant Airman Tri Wobowo, who was co-piloting Indonesia's C130 Herclues aircraft, was the first to discover debris from the plane and witnessed the tragic scene.

'There were seven to eight people. Three of them held hands,' he told a local newspaper.

New Year's Resolution Remix: 10 Things To Stop Doing In 2015

My favorite thing about the New Year is that it allows for a magical sense of renewal and a chance to start fresh.

It is the day we resolve to leave the past behind and move forward. It is the day we fill ourselves up with courage and tell ourselves this is the year we will start doing more of the things we want and stop doing the things that don’t matter.

With every new year comes the chance to change our mindsets, eliminate negativity and choose to move forward. There is a reason we are told the best is yet to come.

This year, make a resolution you can keep. Stop doing things that are no longer in your best interest. Here are 15 things you must STOP doing in 2015 to truly move forward and live this year to the fullest:

1. Stop showing and telling everything to everyone.

The world does not need to know your every move; leave some things to the imagination. Mystery is good.

2. Stop comparing yourself to others.

What you see is NOT what you get, or even what the true reality of a situation is. We all spend way too much of our time comparing our lives to others; yet, we all forget that the pictures we see of others on Instagram and Facebook are simply highlights of their lives.

They aren’t the everyday; they aren’t the struggle; they aren’t the bad hair day. They are the edited, Photoshopped and posed highlight reel of a momentary highlight of someone else’s life.

3. Stop worrying about what others think of you.

People will judge you regardless of what you do, so do what you want. There’s nothing wrong with walking your own journey on a path you create.

You don’t have to do, like or want the things that other people try, love or desire. Start that blog, write that article or wear that outfit about which you’ve been hesitant. In the great words of Kid Cudi, “They gon’ judge me anyway, so whatever.”

4. Stop waiting.

If you don’t take the chance or risk it all now… when will you? Time will always be hard to find. Start now and go after what you want, or wait for later and hope that later isn’t too late.

5. Stop doubting.

If you have an idea or feeling that keeps coming back to you, make it happen. When an idea keeps coming back, it’s for a reason. Take action and follow the ideas that flood your mind. Million-dollar ideas are a dime a dozen, but it’s only one in a million who follow through with their ideas.

6. Stop being a stranger.

We’re all in this together. When you give the world the best you have, the best comes back to you. Be good to people. Popularity fades, kindness does not.

7. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.

You are not a victim; it’s time to get out of your own way. If you find yourself constantly surrounded by drama, you are the one enabling it.

You will never be able to control what others do; however, you are in full control of how you react. Realize that you can overcome hard times. Instead of attending your own pity party, you can accept the fact that only you can change your thoughts and experiences.

You have the power to control your feelings.

8. Stop standing in your own way.

The thoughts in your head about yourself and your situation really do affect your life. Make sure your worst enemy doesn’t reside in-between your own ears.

Follow your intuition and learn that nothing that lasts is started through force. If you have to force it, leave it behind.

9. Stop feeling guilty.

There is a difference between moving on and quitting. Understand that it’s okay to grow out of things. You don’t have to want the same things you wanted when you were 16, 18, 21 or 25…

Life changes, and so do we. Staying where you are and living with guilt or fear is a guaranteed trip to nowhere. You’re allowed to move on and miss it at the same time. Missing something or someone doesn’t make you weak; it makes you real.

10. Stop thinking money creates value.

Don’t overvalue short-term benefits. Higher pay doesn’t equate to a job that will make you feel complete. A significant other with a nice car doesn’t equal...

Corps Member Wins MTN's N50 Million House

A corps member has won a house worth N50 million after playing the weekly TV game show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire sponsored by telecoms company, MTN.

Special episodes of the TV game show tagged “Who Deserves To Be Surprised”, were aired on TV stations all over the country on the 21 and 28 December 2014.

MTN, in conjunction with Ultima Limited, had called on Nigerians to nominate whoever they feel deserves to be surprised during this yuletide. Such a person, they said, must have influenced or touched their lives in a positive manner.

According to the organizers, many nominations were received in this regard and it took a painstaking process to select the eight nominees with the most compelling stories, to come and have a chance of making it to the hot seat, not only to play for the regular star prize of N10million, but to also have a surprise chance of winning a house worth N50millon.

Of the eight nominees who were invited for the show, Omotola Akinsola, a Youth Corp member, and Iyabode Olasumbo Sodiya-Dawodu were the lucky two, who made it to the hot seat.

Ms Akinsola made it to the hot seat in the first episode and won a sum of N250, 000, while Mrs. Sodiya-Dawodu tried her luck during the second episode and also won a sum of N250, 000.

With both contestants at par, show host, Frank Edoho, ushered viewers into another anxious moment, as both Omotola and Iyabode were made to play the fastest finger game, so as to determine who wins the star prize of a N50m house.

Omotola was the fastest of the duo, to answer the N50m question.

She expressed her happiness and thanked MTN for surprising her in such a wonderful way.

“This surprise largesse is an encouragement for me to do more and to follow my passion to a point that will influence the youth, even at a global level,” Omotola said.

MTN also gave another package for the runner-up, Mrs. Sodiya-Dawodu, as show host, Frank Edoho, announced a new KIA car to be presented to her.
While expressing her joy at winning the car gift, an obviously elated Iyabode said it all came as a surprise to her, as she never envisaged it.

The star prize winner, Omotola Akinsola, is a Director at Jumpstart Academy, a Non-Governmental Organisation that supports and currently sponsors more than two hundred and fifty public secondary school students.

According to her, she recruits mentors from various universities within the country, to help in achieving her aim of motivating the youth in the society.

Arsenal Only Top 6 Side To End 2014 With A Win

EPL Update: Spurs 0-0 Man Utd

Manchester United’s title aspirations suffered another setback at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

United were left ruing several missed chances in the first half after 90 minutes, with Juan Mata’s deflected free-kick hitting the post.

Spurs improved in the second half but rarely troubled visiting goalkeeper David de Gea. Hugo Lloris denied Radamel Falcao, Robin van Persie and Ashley Young at the other end.

The draw left Louis van Gaal “frustrated” as his side failed to close gap on leaders Chelsea, who also dropped points at Southampton.

Southampton 1-1 Chelsea
Eden Hazard grabbed his tenth goal of the season to salvage a point for Chelsea against a resilient Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Sadio Mane gave the ‘Saints’ the lead, capitalising on defender John Terry’s slow response to lift his effort beyond Thibaut Courtois.

Hazard restored parity seconds before the interval when he drifted in from the left before blasting in a low shot.

Morgan Schneiderlin did not end the match, leaving Ronald Koeman’s side with ten men after a second yellow card for a foul on Cesc Fabregas.

Man City 2-2 Burnley

Burnley fought back from 2-0 down to secure a point against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

City maintained a two-goal cushion into the break through David Silva and Fernandinho. Burnley replied via George Boyd and Ashley Barnes to deny the champions a club record tenth successive Premier League win.

West Ham 1-2 Arsenal

Santi Carzola and Danny Welbeck Both Registered Goals in the Win Over West Ham at Upton Park. Image: Getty.

Santi Carzola and Alexis Sanchez’s first-half strikes lifted Arsenal above West Ham at Upton Park, with Cheikhou Kouyate’s header 9 minutes after the break serving as consolation for the home crowd.
Santi Carzola opened scores from the penalty spot after the Spanish midfielder was tripped by Winston Reid’s in the area.

Welbeck doubled the ‘Gunners’ lead minutes later tapping home from close range Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain’s low cross from close range.

The win saw Arsene Wenger’s side leapfrog the ‘Hammers’ into fifth place, with a trip to fourth-placed Southampton on the card for the North London club on New Year’s Day. A win against the ‘Saints’ could have Arsenal back in the Top 4.

Villa 0-0 Sunderland

Hull 0-1 Leicester

Stoke 2-0 West Brom

New Year Resolution: The Best Way To Make Your Resolution Stick

It is the end of the year—a time when millions of people make promises to improve their lives and themselves. According to a recent Marist Poll, 59 % of people kept their New Year resolutions in 2014. So what is it that makes a resolution stick? One expert, Judith Beck, Ph.D. , president of the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Philadelphia and a clinical associate professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, explains the benefits of a buddy system and why vague goals fail.

For All Those Procrastinators
New Year’s resolutions tend to encompass big commitments that people have put off. “Usually these are things that are difficult to do, otherwise we would have done them already,” explains Dr. Beck.

The most common January goals focus on weight loss and better general health, but nearly all of them fit into one of seven categories: physical health, organization, relationships, how to spend leisure time, spirituality, creativity and work. “Some people want to get back to the way they used to be, and are committed to making a full-fledged effort,” Dr. Beck says of the goal-setters. “Others want to expand themselves and feel more fulfilled in life.”

The Stickiness Problem
As any visit to a gym in January will attest, most people can persist with a resolution for a few weeks. But by February, that drive is often depleted and the treadmills go empty. “There is some research to show that people who start trying to lose weight because they’ve had a medical scare are more successful than people who do it for another reason,” explains Dr. Beck. In other words, “Often the resolution will stick if the stakes are very high.”

Typically, though, people fail to stick to their annual goals because the resolutions are too demanding, vague or unrealistic. “There can also be external factors. If your objective is to spend more time with family, you may need the cooperation of your teenagers to plan more outings, for example,” Dr. Beck says.

Learning to Cope
When people feel unmotivated or discouraged, says Dr. Beck, they have unhelpful thoughts that interfere with working toward their goal. “So you need to predict in advance what thoughts you might have, when you’re feeling more gung-ho—like now, before you’ve even started—and write them down,” says the cognitive-behavioral therapist. “Nobody is taught how to get back on track when they make a mistake,” she says, but a person can take control of sabotaging thoughts by reading those responses daily.

Dr. Beck also advises clients to imagine themselves in a year or five years, both having reached their goals and establishing them as habits and having failed.

“No-Choice” Category
Most people have some positive behaviors that they might not consistently want to do but they decide to always do anyway. Dr. Beck calls this the “no-choice category,” and places putting on a seat belt or getting dressed for work in this column. “We do them without struggle because we don’t give ourselves a choice,” she says. “It’s the choice that makes sticking to a resolution so difficult.” She suggests putting positive behaviors on a mental “no-choice” list and reaffirm them daily. “If you never give yourself the option to eat dessert, you’ll never have the struggle,” she says.

Don’t Wait to Motivate
Dr. Beck has witnessed firsthand that taking action sparks motivation. “Once you actually get to the gym, the first minute may be difficult, but it almost always gets easier,” she says. She also says that the best way to stick to a resolution is to have an accountability system, whether that is an app or a partner, she says.

When you do put on those gym clothes, she adds, you need to congratulate yourself. “Constant affirmation is essential to success,” says Dr. Beck.

ISIS In Nigeria To Recruit Fighters- FG

The Federal Government has raised alarm over the presence of some agents of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, ISIS, in Nigeria to recruit more fighters into their fold. The National Coordinator, National Information Centre and Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mike Omeri made this known in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, David Akoji yesterday Dec. 23.

Omeri said that intelligence information gathered by Security officials show that three South African nationals disguising as humanitarian workers are currently in the country to facilitate the recruitment of some Nigerians into the islamic terror group. He appealed to Nigerians to be vigilant and report humanitarian workers with suspicious motives

“Nigerians are known the world over to be selfless, hospitable and humanitarian. We believe in the brotherhood of all mankind and no one should be allowed to take advantage of these virtues or turn them into vices. Nigerians are therefore advised to report to security agencies without hesitation, any group or non-governmental agency whose overt or covert activities are suspicious or have tendencies to jeopardise the innocence of our youths and the security of our people wherever they are in the world,” he said.

North Korea Internet Service Resumes After Shutdown

North Korea’s tiny internet network appeared to be working again on Tuesday following a near 10-hour shutdown (read HERE), amid a row with the US over a hack against Sony Pictures that Washington has blamed on Pyongyang.

There was no indication as to whether a cyber-attack caused the outage, and if so who might have been behind it. The White House and the Department of State declined to comment.

US tech companies monitoring the North Korean web network, which has only about 1,000 web addresses and is accessible only to a handful of elite officials, said it appeared to have suffered a concerted denial-of-service attack, in which a target’s internet equipment is overwhelmed by spurious traffic.

Websites such as those of the official Korean Central News Agency and the Rodong Sinmun newspaper went down during the outage. On Tuesday, US computer experts said the network appeared to have been resurrected.

Jim Cowie, chief scientist at Dyn Research, a US internet analysis company, said in an online post that the entire North Korean internet “went dark” following instability that began at the weekend and seemed “consistent with a fragile network under external attack”. However, he added, it could also have been caused by a technical fault such as a power problem.

In an update, Cowie said the network was now functioning again following a nine-and-a-half-hour shutdown. He told Reuters: “We’re yet to see how stable the new connection is. The question for the next few hours is whether it will return to the unstable fluctuations we saw before the outage.” North Korean websites were again accessible.

The issue of who carried out a cyber-attack, if there was one, is complicated by the fact that knocking out North Korea’s web network would not be a particularly difficult task. It has a total of 1,024 IP addresses – in a country of 25 million people – a single service provider and one connection to the outside world, via China. “Any one of us that was upset because we couldn’t watch the movie, you could do that,” said Dan Holden, director of security research at Arbor Networks. “Their internet is just not that sophisticated.”

Nonetheless, some suspicion is likely to fall on the US after Barack Obama said on Friday that the US government expected to respond to the hacking of Sony Pictures and a subsequent threat against filmgoers which prompted Sony to cancel the release of The Interview, a comedy drama centred on a plot to assassinate the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un.

Obama did not say what steps might be taken. A state department spokeswoman, Marie Harf, said: “We aren’t going to discuss, you know, publicly operational details about the possible response options or comment on those kind of reports in any way except to say that as we implement our responses, some will be seen, some may not be seen.”

North Korea, which reveres Kim and his predecessors, Kim Jong-il and Kim Il-sung, as near deities, has reacted with fury to The Interview. It has denied any connection to the Guardians of Power, an anonymous hacking group that claimed responsibility for the theft of a huge cache of emails from Sony, but has praised the hack as a “righteous deed”.

On Monday North Korea again denied being behind the Sony hack, andissued unspecified threats of action against the US after saying it had “clear evidence” that Washington was heavily involved in devising the plot of The Interview.

A statement from the country’s National Defence Commission said North Korea had “already launched the toughest counteraction” to the film, without specifying what this might involve. “Nothing is [a] more serious miscalculation than guessing that just a single movie production company is the target of this counteraction. Our target[s are] all the citadels of the US imperialists who earned the bitterest grudge of all Koreans,” it said.

5 Point Guide To Get Noticed At Work

Forget spouting the ‘right phrases’ and walking the boss’s dog. There are more solid ways to be noticed at work. And no, you don’t have to stoop to sycophancy and late hours. If you really want to stand out at work, here are the things you should do:

1. Don’t wait to be asked: Take the initiative and do little things that impact the team, without being asked. Preparing progress reports, putting back-ups in place or setting up reminders — it’s a sure way to be noticed in a hurry. Very often, we only do as we are told and this turns the boss into a task-master. You are acting like an adult, paying attention and displaying foresight.

2. Don’t shut up: Meetings are black holes that gulp time, attention and energy. First off, don’t sit in a corner or near the door which indicates you are anxious to buzz off or remain unseen. Ask questions and voice opinions — but not too much. You don’t want to be the person that extends meetings pointlessly. Don’t be afraid to disagree, just do it in a way that address the issue and does not make it personal.

3. Jot it down: It’s a boring job, but the rewards make up for it. The reputation for being reliable is slowly built and start with small steps. Keeping all the visiting cards you collect handy, phone numbers in a file, pens in a stand, a calendar on your desk — and you become the goto guy for everything. Jot down every little deliverable, task, errand so that you can remember or bring it up when everyone else has forgotten.

4. Keep books around: Sure, you can find everything on the Internet, but books give you an air of intellect. They also indicate that you keep yourself updated, cross-check your knowledge and believe in reference. Keep reference books, dictionary, thesaurus and journals pertaining to your profession at hand in your cubicle or desk. People may laugh at first, but then they’ll head your way to look-up a thing or two; then you can laugh back.

5. Know the staff: Be kind and respectful to the staff you don’t have to ‘work’ with — janitors, liftman, peons and watchmen. But don’t be condescending. Know their names like you would your colleagues’ and address them by it. Treating people, from whom you have nothing to gain materialistically, with respect immediately gives you exemplary character traits. While you are at it, also know the names and a little information about your colleagues’ spouses and children.

FG Suspends Cargo Flights To MMIA To Decongest Warehouse

All international cargo flights operating into the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos has been suspended by the Federal Government.

General Manager, Corporate Communications, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Yakubu Dati told newsmen that the suspension of cargo aircraft into the country was necessary because of the congestion at the warehouses.

“This has become imperative due to the congestion created by the backlog of cargo created following the two-week closure of the terminal by the Nigerian Customs Service,” he said.

According to Dati, the agency is initiating possible measure to accelerate the clearance of the goods and return to regular operation of international cargo flights.

He therefore advised airlines and importers to, in the mean time, make use of alternative airports. The authority, according to Dati had to take the measure to ensure the safety and security of all concerned.

This T-shirt can charge your mobile phone using ambient sound

                     t-shirt-charger_2
Just when we thought wireless chargers and 30-second superchargers were in no danger of loosing their coolness effect any time soon …

Orange, a mobile phone company based in the UK, have produced a T-shirt that is capable of charging mobile phones using just sounds from one’s immediate surroundings. The science that makes this possible is called piezoelectricity.

The T-shirts have woven into them a base of piezoelectric film, commonly employed in those huge hi-fi speakers you groove to at the club . The piezoelectric film possesses the ability to generate electricity from mechanical stress (e.g sound waves). This generated energy is stored in a battery which can then be plugged into a mobile phone to charge it.

Two Fulani herdsmen from the Ngaski area of Kebbi State, Mohammed Umar and Manu Hassan, have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command robbing motorists on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The herdsmen were arrested by soldiers attached to the OP MESA while they were robbing some people with three locally-made rifles.

The police say the herdsmen also have hideouts in the Abbatoir, Abule Egba and Agege areas of Lagos where they perpetrate their acts. One of them, Umar in his statement to the police said “I am married with two children, and my family is based in Kebbi.

I was formerly selling cows at the Kara Market before I was introduced to the gang. I rob on the highway and also steal cows, although I don’t enjoy it. I have stolen about 12 cows this year.I sold them to one Alhaji Dan Manu in Abbatoir, Agege. I sold six to him for N500,000.

NNPC Assures Nigerians Of Availability Of Fuel Despite Nupeng PENGASSAN Strike

Queues are building up at filling stations in Abuja and Ilorin due to panic buying by motorists, occasioned by the three-day warning strike action embarked upon by members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, (PENGASSAN) and the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).

However, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has assured Nigerians that the industrial action will not disrupt distribution of petroleum products to members of the public.

In a statement issued by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, the NNPC described the queues as needless, advising fuel consumers to avoid panic buying or stockpiling of petroleum products, which could cause fire accidents that could lead to loss of lives and property.

“It was in talks with the leadership of the unions who gave the assurance that they would not disrupt the fuel supply and distribution system as the strike was basically aimed at addressing the anti-labour issues by some of the International Oil Companies, IOCs.

According to the Corporation and its downstream subsidiary, the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), there are over 32 days stock of petroleum products available for supply, while 17 additional petroleum laden vessels are at the Lagos Port waiting to discharge to the various depots for onward distribution to members of the public.

6 Questions Single Women Often Ask About Intimacy, Relationships And Prayer

Time is running out. . . the biological clock is ticking. . . you’ve approached or crossed over 40 years old and still no husband. What do you do?

If you go by the media reports, black women, in particular, will die old maids. Oh, they will have their degrees, a house, and maybe even children. But what they won’t have is a true love who they spend the rest of their lives with. Don’t believe the hype. Because, if you buy into it, then your life will end up mirroring what you believe.

Today, I am answering questions from single women who are trying desperately to continue to believe in love and marriage, done the right way. Not because they stole somebody’s husband, not because they continue to give themselves away to the first guy who shows interest, and not because they will settle for less than they deserve. They want to be a good wife, married to a good husband, so they can grow a great marriage. So, they reached out for some advice about marriage, s*x, prayer, and dating. What I offer is just my two cents, which comes from hearing from God, working in marriage ministry, and counseling couples. Please don’t take my responses as the final answer to your questions. Only God can reveal that to you. I’m just offering encouragement from my perspective, which hopefully, will lead you closer to the One who knows you best.

Here we go:

Q: Is it necessary to keep praying for a spouse year after year?

I believe in prayer with my whole heart. Prayer changes things! But sometimes we use prayer as a crutch and as an excuse to remain unhappy and stagnant. You don’t have to get on your knees every day, year after year praying for a spouse. That is not necessary. God heard you the first time. When you continue to pray like that (which actually turns into begging), you start doubting whether or not God will answer your prayer. You create a spirit of desperation that undermines your faith. I know about this personally. My husband and I tried to have a child for 10 years. I prayed and cried and prayed and cried. After about 5 years I noticed I was developing a “woe is me” spirit that affected everything in my life. My prayers had turned into a pity party. Around the 7th year, I stopped praying for a baby and started praying for God’s will to be done in my life. There is a difference. So, make your request known with an expectant and grateful heart, and then keep it moving. God heard you the first time you prayed. If He doesn’t respond right away, trust that He has a good reason for delaying the answer. More than you desire a spouse, desire God’s will for your life. So, in short: pray but don’t beg.

Q: Should I be specific about what I want in a spouse?

Yes and no. Most people think they know what they want and need in a spouse, but they only know the half of it, if that. I encourage singles and married couples to pray for the spiritual, emotional, and behavioral qualities they desire and let God work out the details. For example, pray for a hard working man and leave his place of employment up to God. If you limit yourself to a certain profession, you might miss your dream guy. Pray for a spouse who enjoys learning and experiencing culture; God will determine if he/she needs a college degree. There are plenty of “educated” spouses who have no knowledge about loving another person. Pray for the big picture — trustworthiness, work ethic, humility, loyalty, etc. — and God will arrange the details.

Q: What does it mean that I keep dating the wrong people?

It could be time to stop dating for awhile. There is something called the law of attraction. If you are the common denominator on these bad dates, then you have to do some self-evaluation to see what in your spirit or behavior is attracting the opposite of what you desire. It’s easy to blame the other person. However, real maturity comes in when you look inside to see wh...

World Record: Star Beer Builds Largest Bottle Tree In The World

Nigeria's first indigenous beer brand, Star Lager has completed the building of the world's largest bottle tree in Lagos State, Nigeria.

The record-breaking tree is made with a total of 8,000 star bottles as against 3,000 bottles announced during the commencement of the project. This development was as a result of the excitement the project elicited in the minds of consumers and Lagosians who trooped in to submit empty bottles as contribution towards the project.

Attention grabbing and beautifully made, the Star Bottle Tree sits proudly at the Star Beer Village, Eko Atlantic City (venue of the much anticipated Lagos Countdown 2014) Victoria Island, Lagos.

With over 17.5 million people, Lagos is the most populous city in Nigeria and the seventh fastest-growing city in the world. It is also the commercial capital of Nigeria, making it an increasingly attractive hub on the continent.

The bottle tree is a first of its kind in the country, symbolizing greatness and the enterprising Nigerian spirit personified by Star Lager, the country's leading beer brand.

The Star Tree aims to break the current World Record of 1,000 beer bottles being held by the Chinese city of Shanghai.

NUPENG Embarks On Warning Strike

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) says it will embark on a three-day warning strike to press for the reinstatement of the National Zonal Secretary of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Mrs. Elo, who was sacked by Total Exploration and Production Nigeria (TEPNG) Limited.

“It (the strike) is not a threat; it is commencing tomorrow. But we are graduating the processes. The issue is the sack of the national zonal secretary of PENGASSAN (Port Harcourt Zone), Mrs Elo. The truth is that we cannot fold our hands to see these foreign investors coming with punitive measures in our own country,” the National President of NUPENG, Comrade Achese Igwe, said yesterday, at the union’s thanksgiving service held at the All Saint’s Anglican Church, Okochiri, Okrika.

“We do not intend to create hardship for Nigerians. That is why we have decided to fashion out a way so that Nigerians would not feel the impact. We are not declaring a nation-wide strike as assumed,” he explained.

“The zone where she came from would be shut down on Monday until the issue is resolved and she is reinstated back to office. Without that, no going back. The state under the zone included Bayelsa, Rivers, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Enugu, Anambra, Benue and Ebonyi.”

Igwe therefore called for the understanding of Nigerians over the strike, stating that they were forced to embark on the action because of Total’s refusal to reverse its sack of the union official.

“Nigerians know that we do not want to embark upon this strike action now. This issue has been on for a long period; we have done consultations. Even the Ministry of Petroleum has intervened and the NNPC, which is the checkmate of the oil and gas industry have also intervened that the woman should be reinstated but Total Exploration and Production Nigeria (TEPNG) Limited said no,” he stated.

“We are embarking in that strike because we have driven our processes to a level. Those behind these challenges are blacks; they are also Nigerians. We are saying, reinstate this woman back. She was elected by the people to serve the people. But all of a sudden you said no because she was elected as a woman; that the only thing you can do is to sack her and then you queried her. You begin to tell her that she must go on leave of absence. Fine, you offered a leave of absence but the union needs to sit down and X-ray the impact of that. But the next thing we saw was a sack.

“Now, we have been able to study the offer you made, restore this woman back to job, you said no: That because she was elected at the Port Harcourt zone, you want to transfer her back to the Lagos zone. But the answer is no; she was elected in Port Harcourt zone; you cannot transfer her to Lagos. That is the political office of the workers. The workers elected her; she is representing the workers, not representing you as an institution or as a management,” he explained.

Clueless Liverpool deserve to lose

Liverpool were made to rue missed chances, but the home side were just too good and made a reverse scoreline of last season, Femi briefly gives an hindsight for the Reds collapse

The away side began on the front foot. They cajoled the ball around, preyed on United’s misdemeanor at the back, but stupendously failed to convert their chances. Just few minutes into the clash, Raheem Sterling had a decent opportunity to draw first blood, but the young England international couldn’t convert. However, a matured Wayne Rooney made sure he buried his at the other end to send Old Trafford into raptures. And sadly, that was the difference between both teams.

Brendan Rodgers, before the game, spoke about how much of a big game this was, and expected to see aggressiveness from his players when it mattered. In a strange twist of fate, that was lacking. Instead, we witnessed abhorrent defending, laziness and no team spirit.

We were fully aware of the dire situation upfront for Liverpool before the match. Mario Balotelli is misfiring and Rickie Lambert is not the sort of player to get you 20+ goals in a season. Yet many of the chances the Reds had needed not the presence of a Diego Costa to finish.

25 seconds separated Liverpool’s glorious miss from United’s opening goal at the other end. A careless Sterling in the box was denied by the David De Gea, when he really should have scored to boost the morale of the team.

From then it was all Manchester United. Though a bit nervy at the back, they picked up the pace, dominated, made Liverpool look like a division two team, and Rooney’s brilliant finish was the catalyst for more to come.

Before half time, the game was dead and buried. Ashley Young sent in a dangerous cross into the box, it was flicked on by Robin van Persie and Juan Mata headed home. In fairness, it was a controversial goal as Mata seemed to be offside.

Van Persie then cemented his name on the scoresheet in the second half to heap more misery on the visitors and make it six victories in a row for Louis van Gaal.

“The most important thing for me today was we looked like scoring,” said Rodgers. “Over the course of the season we haven’t been creative enough.

“I didn’t think it was a 3-0 game. I thought we were the better team in the first half but we gave away disappointing goals.

“I think it tells you everything that their goalkeeper was man of the match. Our creativity was good today, probably the best all season.

“We know what the solutions are but we have to keep working and hopefully the confidence will return.”

Economy: Tackling Shale Oil Challenge With Diversification

Nigeria is in panic mood. Both in the public and private sector, every administrator is worried about the economy and the solvency of governments at all levels. The economy is virtually on a free fall and a look at the immediate future does not particularly inspire hope.

Refinery

Last week, the price of Brent Crude, Nigeria’s major export product, sank to its lowest in seven years, trading briefly below $70 per barrel. In the past three months, the product has lost almost 40 per cent of its value in the international oil market.

The latest fall was induced by the failure the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), to agree on production cuts following consistent fall in the price oil.

OPEC’s decision meant that the oil market remained flooded with OPEC members alone accounting for about 30 million barrels per day in supply. A curb by OPEC could have reduced supply especially with Russia, one of the three largest suppliers willing to work with the league.

But, Saudi Arabia, the largest oil producer in OPEC and second in the world was on a war path and would not accept any production cut. The targets of the Saudis’ anger are the Shale oil and gas producers in North America.

For the Arab nation, the plan is simple: Let the price fall to an extent that it becomes uneconomical for shale producers to continue pumping oil into the international market.

Currently, the cost of producing a barrel of oil in Saudi Arabia is put at $10 per barrel while in countries like Nigeria, Iran and Venezuela the cost is about $25pb. But for shale producers the cost is about $45pb and so the breakeven price for shale producers is around $65pb.

Armed with a cash reserve of over $741 billion and a surplus of $15billion from its last fiscal year, the Saudis are ready for a fight but, sadly, most of its allies in OPEC are not and that includes Nigeria.

Origin of shale oil

According to 2012 Oil Shale and Tar Programmatic information centre, the term oil shale generally “refers to any sedimentary rock that contains solid bituminous materials (called kerogen) that are released as petroleum-like liquids when the rock is heated in the chemical process of pyrolysis. Oil shale was formed millions of years ago by deposition of silt and organic debris on lake beds and sea bottoms.

“Over long periods of time, heat and pressure transformed the materials into oil shale in a process similar to the process that forms oil; however, the heat and pressure were not as great. Oil shale generally contains enough oil that it will burn without any additional processing, and it is known as “the rock that burns”.

“Oil shale can be mined and processed to generate oil similar to oil pumped from conventional oil wells; however, extracting oil from oil shale is more complex than conventional oil recovery and currently is more expensive. The oil substances in oil shale are solid and cannot be pumped directly out of the ground.

“The oil shale must first be mined and then heated to a high temperature (a process called retorting); the resultant liquid must then be separated and collected. An alternative but currently experimental process referred to as in situ retorting involves heating the oil shale while it is still underground, and then pumping the resulting liquid to the surface.

“While oil shale is found in many places worldwide, by far the largest deposits in the world are found in the United States in the Green River Formation, which covers portions of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. Estimates of the oil resource in place within the Green River Formation range from 1.2 to 1.8 trillion barrels.

“Not all resources in place are recoverable; however, even a moderate estimate of 800 billion barrels of recoverable oil from oil shale in the Green River Formation is three times greater than the proven oil.

Silva: Man City must avoid Barca, R'madrid, Atletico

David Silva is hoping Manchester City steer clear of La Liga sides in Monday’s Champions League draw, adding “the later you play a Spanish team, the better”.

An impressive 2-0 win at Roma on Wednesday saw City avoid a third group-stage elimination in four years, as the team finished second behind Bayern Munich in Group E, but the team will now be drawn against a seeded team in the round of 16.

City has reached the knockout stages of the Champions League just once, being eliminated by Barcelona last season, and Silva is keen to avoid facing the Catalan side again or 2014 winners Real Madrid and beaten finalists Atletico Madrid.

“Well, I prefer anyone else. I don’t want any one of them. The later you play a Spanish team, the better, no?” Silva told reporters.

“They’re all that good that, if you get one, you may as well get one of the others. It’d be a difficult draw. Every team that gets through now, they’re difficult. No matter who we get, we have to be 100%, and have to get a little luck too.”

Silva admits City has struggled in Europe since qualifying for the Champions League on a regular basis but is confident the squad’s gradual improvement will see them win the competition at some stage in the future.

He added: “Well, we have to keep getting better. We’ve come through a very difficult group, a very difficult game and I believe in the team. The last few weeks, after the win over Bayern, I think that match gave us a lot of life.

“The team got a lot better, got a lot of confidence and we’ve got to keep getting better. Any team left can win the Champions League. That’s why they’re here. It’s a long and difficult road.”

18 Critical Things Former President Obasanjo Said About President Jonathan In His New Book

"In the area of corruption, we have been going back steadily from the inception of Yar’Adua’s administration when the ‘hunter’ became the ‘hunted’," Obasanjo states. "Under Jonathan we seem to have gone from frying pan to fire. If in the past corruption was in the corridors of power, it would seem now to be in the sitting room, dining room and bedroom of power."

Due to the nature of the content, an ally of President Jonathan attempted to use a court order to block the publication of the book. President Jonathan also personally contacted the former president to appeal that the book not be published until next year, after the 2015 presidential election. Despite this My Watch launched yesterday, Dec. 9, in Lagos, in the presence of prominent political figures and officials.

Review of the three-volume text by SaharaReporters noted that the elder statesman holds nothing back, characterizing Mr. Jonathan as weak, callous and incapable of managing Nigeria.

He also criticizes the handling of the Boko Haram insurgency crisis, the PDP, and the Governors Forum, among other things. Excerpts from some of the most significant critiques are below.

2015 Elections: PDP Has Serious Opponents To Contend With- Mark

The Senate President, Mr. David Mark, has warned the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, against complacency ahead of the 2015 general elections, saying the party has serious opponents to contend with at all levels.

The senate president gave the warning at the Presidential Villa Abuja last night during the inauguration of the party’s National Campaign Council chaired by National Chairman of PDP, Dr. Adamu Muazu.

He spoke few hours after former Head of State General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The senate president, therefore, charged members of the PDP campaign council to work hard to sell the party’s candidates to the electorates.

“Members of this council have serious work to do as the party’s opponents are serious opponents to contend with”, Mark said.

In his remarks, President Goodluck Jonathan said the council would oversee all PDP campaigns, urging members to embark on issues-based campaigns.

Meanwhile, a former national chairman of the PDP, Dr. Ahmadu Ali, has been appointed as the director-general of Jonathan’s Presidential Campaign Committee.

The committee is to be formally inaugurated at the Legacy House, Maitama in Abuja on Monday.

Osun 2007 bomb explosion: Court sentences the prime suspect to death by hanging

Osun 2007 bomb The prime suspect of the bomb explosion that rocked the premises of Osun State Secretariat, Abeere on June 14th 2007, Mr Richard Abayomi Adesanmi, has been sentenced to death by hanging by an Osun state high court that sat yesterday December 11th.

Justice Adeyinka Aderibigbe who presided over the case, convicted Adesanmi on all the six-count charge, including murder and conspiracy to effecting unlawful purpose…

During its investigation, the police found that the vehicle that blew up belonged to Mr Adesanmi and some materials used in the making of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found in the trunk of his car.

On the day of the blast, Mr Adesanmi and four others had stationed his Peugeot 504 saloon car with registration number AL 850 NND, near the Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development and in the course of coupling the bomb explosive, the bomb went off, killing one Taye who was in the car with them.

Two others in the vehicle fled the scene during the commotion that ensued. Mr Adesanmi who lost an eye during the explosion, was arrested near the scene of the explosion.

While handing down his judgement Justice Aderibigbe said;
“the prosecution had proven their case beyond reasonable doubt. Richard Abayomi Adesanmi is, hereby, sentenced to death for murder by hanging till he gives up the ghost.”
On other five-count charge, the court sentenced the convict to 35 years imprisonment without an option of fine and the sentence would run concurrently.

5 Secrets You Keep That Can Destroy Your Marriage

Here are 5 secrets that could potentially destroy your marriage if you continue to keep them:

1. Your overspending habit
This is a sticky subject because we are already part of a culture that does not like to talk about money. So many married people are spending, mindlessly, and their spouse has no idea what is going on. To build generational wealth, there has to be open communication. Even if the money your are spending is money you earned through the work you do, there is a serious problem if you feel the need to keep your expenses a secret.

2. Unprocessed childhood pain.

I know that sharing every detail of your childhood may be difficult and unnecessary, however, if something happened to you years ago and the pain from it is still impacting your life in a meaningful way, your spouse needs to know that. Knowing your spouse is hurt and having no idea why can damage a marriage, because at some point you start to wonder if you are the source of the pain, even if that pain existed long before you came along.

3. Friendships you have.

If you have a friendship, whether it’s with the same s*x or the opposite s*x, there is something strange going on if that friendship needs to be a secret. Examine why you are truly keeping it a secret and you are sure to reveal something with your marriage that needs to be addressed.

4. Your vision for your life.

If you dream of a life that is different than the one you are living, but you find yourself trying to be content with what you have because having more seems unreasonable, you have to talk to your spouse today. Nothing hurts a marriage more than dying dreams and feelings of resentment. Keeping your personal vision a secret will hurt in the long run.

5. What you do with your free time.

We are all entitled to free time. Spending time apart is needed for any healthy relationship. However, your time apart shouldn’t be spent doing things other than what you say you’ll be doing. If your husband thinks you are out shopping with your girls, you shouldn’t really be at a bar drinking by yourself. Or if your wife thinks you went to a football game with your boys, you shouldn’t really be at the casino gambling away your check. When you keep secrets about your whereabouts, there are deeper personal and marital issues you need to work though.

Being truthful all the time is hard stuff, but keeping a ton of secrets is ultimately much harder.

Kosovo Newest Full Member of the IOC

Kosovo have gained full membership of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and will compete at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, although Serbia does not recognize Kosovo as a state.

The Serbian Olympic committee protested when Kosovo was granted provisional IOC recognition in October.

Kosovo Granted Full Membership of the IOC as the 2015th National Olympic Committee.

Kosovo was accepted as the newest full member of the IOC at a meeting in Monte Carlo, Monaco on Tuesday, taking the number of national Olympic committee to 205.
It is recognised as a country by 108 of the 193 United Nations member states and is a full member of six Olympic sports federations: table tennis, archery, judo, sailing, weightlifting and modern pentathlon.

Majlinda Kelmendi was the only athlete from Kosovo to compete in London, where she represented Albania in Judo.

“Congratulations Kosovo and all athletes,” said Prime Minister Hashim Thaci. “Our flag will wave at the Olympic Games in Rio and will be held by Majlinda.”

The IOC began reviewing the Kosovo case five years ago but the request to field a team at London 2012 was rejected.

Obasanjo launches his autobiography, says late Yar'Adua lied to him about his health

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo launched his controversial autobiography ‘My Watch’ at the Lagos Country club Ikeja, Lagos today Dec. 9th. Guest at the event included former VC of the University of Lagos, Prof. Ibidapo Obe and former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili.

According to reports, one of the chapters of the book titled “To be or not to be, Jonathan” Obasanjo said he was deceived by late President Umaru Yar’Adua about his health status before facilitating his emergence as the PDP flag bearer in 2007.

In the book, Obasanjo was quoted to have said;

“As can be expected, I was heavily involved in the transition and exit process that saw me leaving office for my successor, Umaru Yar’Adua, as recounted in Chapter Thirty-seven, the ninth chapter of the second volume of this book. The unprepared and unplanned transition from Yar’Adua to Jonathan was a more difficult exercise in some respects. One reason was the ‘cloak and dagger’ manner in which Yar’Adua’s illness was handled. The illness of a President cannot be regarded as private. His health has implications for the security and wellbeing of the nation. For the president and those around him to have attempted strenuously to keep the fact of the severity of his illness from public smacks of ignorance of the enormity of what the job entails and the level of provinciality of their understanding, attitude, and approach. I remember that in 1978 or 1979 Chief Awolowo visited me while I was military head of state and shared with me how he would always stay at home to attend to the work at hand and only make a private visit to the UK once a year for health reasons if he became president of Nigeria. I made it clear to the chief that once he became president of Nigeria, he could have no private visit to anywhere as such. Wherever he would be, he would be on duty, and the totality of his life would be public. I jokingly added that the only privacy he might lay claim to would be when he was at home with Mama Chief H.I.D., and that even then his security staff would be on twenty-four-hour duty.”

The launch of the three volume book was stopped by a court injunction secured by a former friend of Obasanjo, Prince Buruji Kashamuon on Friday December 5th but lawyers to Chief Obasanjo advised him to go ahead with the launch.

U.S And NATO End Afgan Combat Command After 13 Years

The United States and NATO closed their combat command in Afghanistan on Monday, which is more than 13 years after invading the country in the wake of the September 11 terror attacks to target al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden. AP reports:

Though quickly routing the Taliban-led government that sheltered the militants, the U.S.-led coalition soon found itself spending billions of dollars rebuilding a country devastated by almost 30 years of war while an insurgency grew as the invasion and occupation of Iraq quickly took America’s attention.

As NATO’s International Security Assistance Force’s Joint Command, which was in charge of combat operations, lowered its flag Monday and formally ended its deployment, resurgent Taliban militants launched yet another bloody attack in the country. And with President Barack Obama allowing American troops to go after both al-Qaida and Taliban militants in the country into the next year, the fighting likely won’t be over anytime soon.

“I don’t think the war will slow or stop during the winter, as attacks on cities are not contingent on the weather,” Afghan political analyst Wahid Muzhdah said. “I believe attacks in the cities will increase — they attract media attention.”

Monday’s ceremony saw the NATO flag of the command folded and put away amid the foreign troop withdrawal. From Jan. 1, the coalition will maintain a force of 13,000 troops in Afghanistan, down from a peak around 140,000 in 2011. As of Dec. 1, there were some 13, 300 NATO troops in the country.

7 Ways To Make Your Parents Like Your Boyfriend

Whether you’re in a new #relationship or have been with the same guy for several years, there are ways to make your parents like your boyfriend more. Until they realize how great he is, #things are going to be uncomfortable for everyone involved, so it’s important to let them get to know each other. Here are some of the best ways to make your parents like your boyfriend more:

1. COACH HIM

You shouldn’t ask your #boyfriend to change so that your parents approve of him, but you can give him some helpful pointers. If your parents hate when guys send texts that say, “I’m here,” instead of walking to the door to get you, then tell him he should try knocking instead of beeping. One of the#best ways to make your parents like your boyfriend more is to figure out little things that he can do that will impress them.

2. NO COMPLAINING

If you have a fight with your boyfriend, try to keep it on the down low. If you’re always complaining to your parents about how horrible your #boyfriend is, they aren’t going to like him. Even if you forgive him for his mistakes, your parents may not, so be careful what you tell them.

3. SHOW HAPPINESS

If you’re happier than you’ve ever been when you’re with him, how could your #parents hate him? Show them how much you like him and how much he likes you. Once they see how happy you make each other, they should start to soften up. The most important thing to them should be your happiness.

4. POINT OUT COMMON INTERESTS

If your parents have nothing to talk about with your boyfriend, #things could get awkward. You’re the one who knows both of them, so try to find something that they have in common. If your father and #boyfriend both love cars, then start up a conversation about that. Choose anything that you know they’ll be able to talk about for hours.

5. LEND A HAND

If you’ve been with your #boyfriend for a while, see if he’ll agree to helping out around the house. If your parents are installing new floors, see if he can assist. If your yard needs raking, see if he’ll help with that, too. It requires quite a bit of work on his part, but if he really wants your parents to like him, he should be willing to do whatever it takes to get their approval.

6. TALK HIM UP

If your boyfriend gets his #college degree, brag about it to your parents. if he volunteers at an animal shelter, bring it up in conversation. Mention all of the good #things that he’s done, but don’t make it obvious that you’re trying to talk him up. Try to mention his accomplishments casually.

7. STAY CALM

If you’re shaking with nerves the first #time your boyfriend meets your parents, they’re going to wonder why you’re so worried and might assume that there’s something wrong with him. Plus, your boyfriend might think that you’re embarrassed by him. The calmer you are, the easier it’ll be for your boyfriend to be himself and make a good impression.

As awkward as it may be, it’s best to get your boyfriend and parents in the same room together as often as you can so they get used to him and see how perfect for you he is. Do your parents like your #boyfriend.

End Acne And Other Skin Infections With These Natural Methods

Not only the bane of teenagers, acne can strike adults at any age too. Stress, hormonal imbalance and poor diet all contribute to annoying breakouts. Yet, before fretting that perfect skin will forever be out of reach, have a look at the suggestions below.
Contrary to popular belief, oily skin is not necessarily the cause of acne. Granted, a clogging mixture of dead skin cells, bacteria and oil contribute to the problem, but oily skin isn’t the only reason for less-than-perfect skin. In fact, one of the best ways to combat acne is through oil cleansing. Those struggling with acne will cringe at the suggestion of adding more oil to the skin, but consider the following.

Oil cleansing relieves breakouts on two levels. First and foremost, cleansing in this way opens the pores and removes embedded dirt, bacteria and dead skin cells. Secondly, by side-stepping harsh cleansers and opting for a nourishing, non-comedogenic oil, the skin is given a substantial boost of moisture. This breaks the vicious cycle of dry skin flakes that block pores.
For best results, massage a half teaspoon of olive, jojoba or argan oil into skin. Add a drop or two of tea tree or thyme essential oil for antibacterial, blemish-blasting benefits — just make sure to avoid the eye area. Next, warm a washcloth with very hot water and cover the face to steam the skin. Keep in place until cool. Rinse the cloth with warm water and gently rub the skin to remove excess oil. Pat dry and you’re good to go.

Another time-honored remedy for acne is honey — especially manuka. Naturally antibacterial, moisturizing and soothing, honey is an excellent addition to your cleansing routine. Many swear by the honey mask. Simply apply a tablespoon of honey onto the skin and leave for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. A recipe for an effective honey, cinnamon and nutmeg spot treatment can be found here.
Likewise, oats can be used as an exfoliating and balancing mask too. Grind 2 tablespoons plain oats in a coffee grinder until it has the consistency of flour. Mix with 1 tablespoon unsweetened yogurt and a squeeze of lemon juice until a paste forms. Spread over the face and let sit for 10-15 minutes. With wet fingertips, rub the skin in a circular motion. Lastly, rinse with warm water.
Clay masks are also beneficial for acne-prone skin. A variety of topical clays are available — Moroccan red, French green and gray, along with bentonite. Red clays tend to be the most gentle, but green, gray or bentonite are effective when you need a little extra strength.

And don’t ignore the diet for encouraging blemish-free skin. Chlorophyll — which is present in leafy greens, wheat grass, alfalfa, blue-green algae and spirulina — cultivates beautiful skin from the inside out. The same for other foods high in vitamin A, such as pumpkin, mango, carrots and dark green vegetables. The anti-inflammatory properties of fatty fish, avocados, turmeric, ginger and olive oil will help tame acne as well. Also, eat foods rich in zinc, which is antibacterial and regulates sebum. Chromium will help heal existing blemishes and prevent future breakouts. According to traditional Chinese medicine, edibles to avoid include dairy, sugar and spicy hot food.
Moreover, drinking plenty of purified water, utilizing stress-relieving practices like yoga and acupuncture, along with getting enough sleep, all balance the hormones. This in turn fosters flawless skin.

7 Signs He Loves You Even When He Is Not Saying It

1. GIFTS

There are many ways to tell someone loves you, but gifts is a big one. Plenty of #people think material goods will make up for not saying “I love you.” Although gifts don’t mean #everything, they do account for something. #Men tend to buy women expensive jewelry or items they want to show that they’re thinking about you, and they care. These acts of kindness show that your #man loves you.

3. SMALL AFFECTIONATE GESTURES

The little #things always add up. If your #man holds the door for you, pulls out your chair at a restaurant, opens your car door for you, or performs other small acts of kindness similar to these, he’s showing he cares. Even if he simply takes your hand while you’re crossing the street, he’s trying to get to you. Being affectionate with someone is definitely a huge sign of love.

4. BEING SPONTANEOUS

Doing the same #things constantly can become a drag after a while. The same routine may be comforting, but it will eventually get old. Sometimes, a #little bit of adventure is all you need to ignite the flame. A way to show you he loves you is by being spontaneous. Planning trips without your knowledge or showing up to your job with flowers and your favorite candy is definitely done out of love. If he goes out of his way for you, consider yourself a big deal! (Ha ha!)

5. TRUST

When your #man has trust in you, he loves you. By trusting you, he’s saying no matter what happens, he has confidence in you and the assurance that you wont do anything against him. Trust is something you do without #words. He doesn’t need to tell you he loves you, but by trusting you, you should be aware that that means something big.

6. LETTERS

Some #men are writers, and others barely write at all, but one way to tell he loves you is through letters. Having him let all his thoughts spill onto a paper doesn’t compare to any other gift he could give you. Saying “I love you” isn’t as easy as everyone makes it out to be. Indirectly saying it in a letter is one of the #best ways a man can get to a woman’s heart.

7. COMPLIMENTS

Compliments and positive affirmations are all said out of love. If someone didn’t care, they wouldn’t go out of their way to send compliments your way! Compliments can definitely be responsible for making you feel stronger about a #guy. #Women tend to struggle with insecurities, and having someone tell you positive things can be a total confidence booster. Guys don’t always just throw certain compliments out there. You’ll know which ones mean something.

Although there are many other ways you can tell someone loves you without saying it, these are 7 common ones that many #people don’t think have much importance. With love, the little #things mean a lot. Do you think true love always needs to be stated? What are some ways you can tell someone loves you.

Bayelsa PDP House Of Reps Primaries Marred With Violence

Violence erupted, Saturday, as youths suspected to be political thugs invaded the Bayelsa State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), allegedly to hijack materials for the conduct of the Federal House of Representatives primaries in the state. Policemen in a bid to stop the raid fired shots into the air.

The hoodlums were however said to have recorded success as they held members of the electoral committee of the party deployed to the state for the conduct of the primaries, hostage. They were held hostage at the PDP Secretariat for hours, as the security men tried to dislodge the youths that besieged the place.

The thugs reportedly arrived the PDP Secretariat in a White Sienna Spacewagon, armed with dangerous weapons including guns.

“We were all held hostage for hours. It was fearful. All of us including, the State Working Committee members of the Party were trapped inside the Secretariat,” reports Vanguard, citing a source.

“They searched the bags of some female journalists that tried to leave the premises of the secretariat,” the source added.

Police however successfully dislodged the hoodlums and set the hostages free, following security reinforcement.

The primaries were cancelled, according to reports, although it held in some constituencies.

Why US Training For Nigerian Soldiers Was Cancelled- FG

The federal government yesterday revealed that the training of Nigerian soldiers by the US military was cancelled due to the absence of some logistical components needed for the training.

According to the Nigerian government, the US trainers depended on Nigerian military hardware, which is currently deployed in the North-East to fight Boko Haram, hence, the finally phase of the three-phase training had to be cancelled.

The coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, who stated this when he briefed journalists in Abuja on Thursday, said “The training that is being mentioned were supposed to be in three phases, two phases have been concluded, the next phase requires some logistical components and I don’t think it’s wise to take equipment from the field and keep them in Jaji for training when our soldiers are out there needing the equipment.

“The training that is being offered by the American Government did not also come with the equipment component, so if our soldiers need the same equipment, and you all know the status of our stock, we will not withdraw everything and go for training when we have need for it on the field”, he explained.

Mourinho- Everybody Wants to Beat Chelsea

Jose Mourinho says Chelsea are ready for Saturday’s game at Newcastle United and stresses he just wants to win the next match not set records or reach milestones at the moment.

Chelsea would have played a club-record 24 matches without a loss if they could avoid defeat against the ‘Magpies’ tomorrow.

Speaking at his pre-match media briefing at Cobham, the Portuguese boss said St. James’ Park is a difficult ground to visit, and that everybody wants to beat Chelsea.

Mourinho said: “I’m not looking for records, I’m looking for victories, points and if possible at the end of the season, titles. We just want to win the next match, that’s all.

“It’s a difficult stadium to play at, there are a few stadiums in this country that clearly when they see Chelsea shirts they play the game of their lives and when they play other teams they look like they are playing friendlies. Maybe it’s because, in the last decade, Chelsea have become a strong team everybody wants to beat.

“We are ready for tomorrow and the only record I want is to win the title three times with this club.”
Gary Cahill is available for the game after leaving the pitch at half-time during Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur following a collision of heads with Jan Vertonghen, according to the manager.

Diego Costa will return from suspension. Mourinho also disclosed he has enough “trust” in his players as to finding a suitable replacement for suspended midfielder, Nemanja Matic. Either John Obi Mikel or Ramires could be called upon in place of the Serb, who serves a one-match ban.

Didier Drogba earned plaudits for his performance in the victory against Spurs in the midweek after setting up Eden Hazard for the opener and getting among the goals himself.

Mourinho thinks Drogba, who opened scoring three years ago when Chelsea secured their last three points at Newcastle, knows better when to halt his illustrious career, but believes the Ivorian still has much to offer as a player.

“I don’t know his qualities as a coach because I’ve never seen him coach,” he said.

“He’s still a very good player and if he wants my advice I think he should stop when he wants to, not wait for me or the club to decide.
“We want him, we love him. After that, I know Mr Abramovich is very happy to keep him at the club in any area he feels useful and happy, but that’s after he makes the decision to stop his career, which I don’t think will be tomorrow.”
