US Conservative Cliven Bundy made headlines for his outright derogatory statement on blacks.
The Nevada rancher/conservative hero and patriot was caught on camera by a reporter of New York Times, saying – “Blacks are better off as slaves”.
When it was published yesterday, a lot
of SLBreaders had a lot of interesting things to say.
Cliven who is shockingly surprised by the backlash over his comments, defended his statement on CNN. He understands what he meant by the statement and doesn’t intend backing down.
“I don’t think I’m wrong”, he told CNN’s Bill Weir on Thursday night. “I think I’m right” he further says.
The viral remarks has drawn condemnation from Democrats and Republicans alike.
Fox News host Sean Hannity calls the statement, “ignorant, racist, repugnant, despicable comments.”
In his defense, Bundy says he is “wondering whether (blacks) are that much better off in the situation we’re in now.”
“I didn’t really mean it to compare (the
current plight of blacks) with slavery. I meant to compare it with
maybe life on the farm or life in the South, where they had some
chickens and the gardens and they had something to do.” he concludes.
