After the drama of Deadline Day, who were the winners and losers in the January transfer window

CHELSEA spent the most, Manchester City were conspicuously quiet - maybe buying an A-League club diverted them, Liverpool is red faced, Arsenal has underwhelmed and Manchester United stole the headline moment.

Ask Arsene Wenger, and January doesn't matter and is just a big waste of time that threatens the fairness of the competition.
Ask others who need to plug gaps in their squad, or provide it with a renewed energy, and it's a timely chance to fix things halfway through the season.
There was relatively little Deadline Day drama but there was enough spent to click the EPL's season outlay to a record $1.15 billion.
Now that the January silly season is run and won, who are the winners and losers?

WINNERS
MANCHESTER UNITED
Plenty of supporters still covet more depth across the board, particularly centre-mid, centre-back and left-back, but the club record signing of Juan Mata was exactly the tonic David Moyes needed. The timing of his debut alongside Robin van Persie's return from injury against Cardiff had a different vibe about it and was perfect for United as it looks to put a horror first six months behind it.
