Microsoft Store UK finally starts selling Lumia smartphones

Windows Phone handsets can finally be bought from Microsoft’s UK online store as a handful of Nokia smartphones become the first to be available through the shopping portal.

Visitors to the store can buy the new low-end Nokia Lumia 630 as well as the Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320 through the store and Microsoft has already promised that further models will be available from the store when released.

The Lumia 630, which only hit the UK shelves yesterday, comes with Windows Phone 8.1 straight out of the box and will be sold at £129 by Microsoft – almost £40 more than the £90 SIM-free retail price that Nokia is offering it at.

The handset boasts an impressive set of features for its price that includes a 4.5in display with an 854 x 480 pixel resolution made from Gorilla Glass 3, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz and 8GB of internal storage alongside 512MB of RAM.

Those looking for a top-of-the-range smartphone will be happy to see the Lumia 1520 in the Microsoft Store. The device comes complete with a 6in 1080p full HD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz as well as 32GB of onboard storage and 2GB of RAM, and a 20-megapixel lens that more than justifies the £549 price tag.

The third handset to make it onto Microsoft Store UK is the mid-range Lumia 1320 that is priced at £329 and originally went on sale in the UK for the first time back in February. Like the Lumia 1520 it has a 6in display, however, it has a lower resolution of just 1,280 x 720 pixels and a less-powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz.

Microsoft will now presumably offer all future Nokia Lumia handsets running Windows Phone through its store and could even begin to sell handsets through the store before they hit high street stores.
