BlackBerry Messenger for Windows Phone Launch Pushed Forward to July


BlackBerry’s CEO has confirmed that the long-awaited Windows Phone version of BB Messenger will be available as early as next month.

Good news for the millions of folk holding out for BlackBerry Messenger for Windows Phone – you won’t be waiting quite as long as you thought! Having previously only been confirmed for a rollout sometime before the end of the year, the firm’s CEO has now revealed that BBM for WP is coming next month.


John Chen made the welcome announcement during this week’s earnings call, finally clearing up the rather vague promise of a 2014 debut. Upon making its mark on both Android and iOS several months ago, it took just a single day for the new ports of BBM to rake in 10 million downloads, adding to the service’s already gargantuan user-base. To date, the only sighting of BBM for Windows Phone came in the form of an unofficial image leak of a Nokia Lumia 630 poster – a device that will apparently come with BBM baked-in.
No official details have yet been confirmed by BlackBerry in terms of the Windows Phone version’s features, but it’s generally expected that everything that’s rolled out onto the Android and iOS versions so far will be there from day-one.
