Wow! This is one determined momma!

Alysia Montano is 34-weeks pregnant, but competed in the 800 meters race on Thursday at the US Track and Field Championships anyway!

This 28-year-old athlete is set to give birth in seven weeks, but she felt that it was important to run, even though she finished last. Alysia explained her decision to participate, saying: “I've been running throughout my pregnancy and I felt really, really good during the whole process. I just didn't want to get lapped and be the first person to get lapped in the 800.”

That's almost a whole mile that she finished in 2 minutes and 32.13 seconds! Just, WOW! And if you’re one of the people who still thinks she shouldn’t have run, well, her doctors told her to!

Alysia said: “That took away any fear of what the outside world might think about a woman running during her pregnancy. What I found out mostly was that exercising during pregnancy is actually much better for the mom and the baby. I did all the things I normally do, I just happened to be pregnant. This is my normal this year.”

See! There’s no reason everyone can’t have a happy and healthy pregnancy, while still doing the things you love! Just check with your doctor first, of course!
Thanks for the inspiration, Alysia!
