Okim-Alobi Oyama Reporting.

The host community, Izombe in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, are presently embarking on a stern protest against Addax Petroleum as acresult of the injustice, exploitation and negligence meted out on the indigenes of Izombe by the oil conglomerate.

In a protest that started since 5:00A.M. The women, Children, and chiefs of the land have taken to the streets, shutting down the major road that links Izombe to Owerri, and seriously carrying leaves and placards, all chanting and singing "Addax Must Go" "Addax Must leave.

+Nigeria We Serve's +Okim-Alobi Oyama who is presently there at the scene says over 10,000 indigenes have all left their houses, protesting peacefully and saying Addax has done more harm than good and are no longer tolerated in Izombe land.

"it is a total uproar in Izombe community, the people are angry, the people are in rage, they said they are tired of Addax's maltreatment, for forty years, Addax and Chevron have been exploring 7000 barrels of oil in the land and yet no social amenity has been provided for them. They said Addax then Ashland Oil had promised them to provide them with the basic amenities they need if permitted to operate, but they have not lived up to their expectation since they started operation in 1974, The Deputy Speaker of Imo State has come to listen to the cries and needs of the people and have taken them up to the government. The people insist Addax should leave, and right now it seems that nothing
Addax can do to get the people to listen as they have made up their minds saying Enough is Enough, Addax should leave them alone" Okim-Alobi Oyama reports live in Izombe community.
