Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Nominated for Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction


Congratulations to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The Nigerian author is one of 20 women nominated for the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction.
The coveted award honours works by women written in English. It was known as the Orange Prize until last year when liquour company Bailey’s took over as an official sponsor.
Chimamanda who is nominated for her latest book – “Americanah” is the only Nigerian and African nominated. The prize comes with an award of 30,000 pounds or $ 50,000.
She has previously won the competition.
Chimamanda is nominated alongside Donna Tartt of “The Goldfinch“, Margaret Atwood of “MaddAddam” and Eleanor Catton of “The Luminaries”.
Six finalists will be announced on April 7th and winner will be revealed on June 4th.
