President Obama gets the home field advantage for the next Nuclear Security Summit, saying Tuesday that the United States will host the event in 2016.
Obama mentioned both Chicago and Washington as potential sites.
Concluding the 2014 event at The Hague, Netherlands, Obama said the next summit will seek to develop "a more sustainable model" for reducing and safeguarding materials needed to make nuclear

At the concluding session, this year's host -- Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte -- handed Obama the orange baton that is the Nuclear Security Summit's symbol.
"I just want to make sure this is not radioactive", Obama joked.
The Associated Press reported on this year's summit:
"(Obama is) praising new commitments made at the summit by Japan, Italy and Belgium to reduce their stocks of nuclear materials.
"Obama launched the nuclear summit series in 2010 in an attempt to secure materials and keep them out of the hands of terrorists. Since then, the number of countries that have enough material to build a nuclear weapon has fallen from 39 to 25."
