Over the past decade the winning side in a cup final at Wembley Stadium, more often than not, has boasted at least one player from the Ivory Coast. That was the case once again as Manchester City clinched the the 2015-16 Capital One Cup, with a 3-1 penalty shoot-out win over Liverpool on Sunday.
In all, three Ivorians were involved in the contest, with Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony donning the blue of City and Kolo Toure the red of Liverpool.
When Citizens go to Wembley, there is one guy that always delivers: Yaya Toure.
The 32-year-old scored the winning kick from 12 yards to add to winning goals against Manchester United and Stoke City on their way to 2011 FA Cup success on the hallowed turf. Toure was also on hand to level matters in stunning fashion against Sunderland in the 2014 Capital One Cup final (City won 3-1).
Didier Drogba was another who always brought his A-game to Wembley. The burly striker scored a record nine cup final goals for Chelsea (four in the FA Cup, four in the League Cup and one in the 2012 Champions League final).
