Egypt have recalled veteran goalkeeper Essam El Hadary for a warm-up against Burkina Faso ahead of next month’s AFCON double header against Nigeria.
The 43-year-old Hadary was last involved with the Pharaohs in 2014 and he has come in for injured Ahly star Sherif Ekramy.
This is his first call-up by coach Hector Cuper and comes on the back of his outstanding performances for Egyptian Premier league club Wadi Degla
The former Ahly, Zamalek and Ismaily star El-Hadary played a key role in guiding Egypt to winning three successive AFCON titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
He last appeared with the seven-time African champions in November 2014 when the Pharaohs lost 1-2 to Tunisia in the African Cup qualifiers under former coach Shawky Gharib.
Egypt will host Burkina Faso on February 27 in Alexandria.
The 24-man squad of home-based players will open training camp on Tuesday.
The squad are made up 10 players from Ahly, eight from rivals Zamalek and another six from other clubs.
