Boateng: I failed to listen to Drogba's advice

Kevin-Prince Boateng has revealed that he failed to listen to sound advice from Didier Drogba.

Boateng, 28, released his biography earlier this month, with German tabloid Bild releasing excerpts.

The AC Milan midfielder said that Drogba treated him "like a little brother" during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, but admitted that he didn't pay attention to the Ivorian's advice.

Boateng joined Spurs in 2007, but was soon told by manager Martin Jol that he wasn't needed at the North London club.

The Ghana international said: He [Drogba] tried to talk to me, but I wasn't open to good advice, not even that coming from Didier Drogba. He [Drogba] said: 'Focus on football. There are 1,000 coaches and 999 of them will not like you. I had to fight for my place when I came from France.'

"But I was not ready to listen to him," said Boateng.

The former Schalke 04 ace instead spent thousands of pounds on cars and booze while out in London.

Boateng wrote: "I sometimes drank too much, and lost Jenny [ex-wife] because I was out all the time and also with other women.

"I never spent an evening at home. And when I was out, I went for it big time. On quite a few those nights I wasted £10,000."
