Bayelsa declares fast

The Bayelsa State Government has declared Monday, October 31, and Tuesday, November 1, 2016 as fast and thanksgiving days to appreciate God for keeping the state afloat despite the economic recession in the country.

The fasting will last from 6am to 6pm, a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Jonathan Obuebite, said on Monday.

Also, the state government has declared Wednesday, November 2, as a public holiday to commemorate its Annual Thanksgiving Day.

Obuebite said, “We, therefore, urge everyone who believes in the Almighty God to come out and thank Him, irrespective of all political differences and affiliations. We must all come together and worship God for holding and keeping the state together through the thick, thin and trying times recently faced.”
