A 23-year-old student (names withheld) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has been arrested by the Anambra State command of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly possessing 48 pinches of cocaine.
The suspect’s arrest was confirmed to newsmen by the commander of NDLEA in the state, Sule Momodu.
Mr Momodu said the university student was arrested during a raid in Awka along with three other suspects, including a 24-year old man caught with 400kg of cannabis.
Others were a 39-year old man caught with 150 kg of cannabis and a 26-year old man caught with 130kg of cannabis. He said the suspects would soon be arraigned after investigation.
Momodu said the Federal High Court, Awka, presided over by Justice I.B. Gafai, had on May 19 sentenced two drug dealers to four years imprisonment each.
