Academic Staff on Indefinite Strike over Unpaid Salaries

     All academic and administrative activities were grounded in Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo state, for the past few weeks over issues bothering the staff with non payment of salaries and other benefits.

Aside from unpaid salaries, there was another recent protest to remove the Chief Security Officer.

According to Channels Television,

They said it was held to push for the removal of the Chief Security Officer of the institution Mr Saliu Shaka, whom they alleged fired some of his men who failed to shoot at the staff during their recent protest in the school


The protest is coming amid negotiations by the management of the institution trying to make peace return to the school after it was shut down over a week ago by staff protesting the non-payment of their salaries and other benefits.

Some students have left school while some are still waiting in anticipation that the lecturers will call off the strike soon.
