Tight security as Buhari gives out daughter in marriage

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday gave out his daughter, Fatima, in marriage to Malam Yau Gimba Kumo in accordance with Islamic rites.

The ceremony, which held around 2:40pm, took place amid tight security in his home on Mai’adua road, Daura in Katsina State.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that there was heavy presence of security personnel in the community and that only few prominent persons had access to the main sitting room in the President’s residence where part of the ceremony took place.

It was also gathered that the Jumu’at Mosque, where the ceremony took place, was surrounded by security personnel from different agencies.

Report said the groom, who is a former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mortgage Bank, paid N100, 000 as bride price.

Present at the ceremony were some top federal and state government officials, including Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State, his Bauchi State counterpart, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar, Minister of Interior, Mr. Abdulrahman Dambazau and that of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali.

Others included the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris; Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede; Director-General of the Department of State Services, Mr. Lawal Daura; Senators Mustapha Bukar (Katsina North); Ahmed Sani from Zamfara and Danjuma Goje from Gombe State.
