Ambassadorial Nominees: Bugaje, Tuggar, Mamora, Tallen, 42 Others Make List

   President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded a fresh list of 46 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation as ambassadors.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, read the president’s letter containing the names of the non-career ambassadorial nominees at plenary yesterday.

The nominees include a retired justice of the Supreme Court, George Oguntade (Lagos); a former deputy director-general of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora (Lagos); Yusuf Tuggar (Bauchi); a former deputy governor of Plateau State, Mrs Paulen Tallen; a former member of the House Representatives, Hon. Usman Bugaje (Katsina), and the immediate past deputy governor of Niger State, Ahmed Ibeto, whose nomination as a minister was withdrawn by Buhari in 2015.


The list also includes a former director-general of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos,  Prof. Tijani Bande (Kebbi); Dr (Mrs) Uzoma E. Emenike (Abia); Dr Clifford Zirra (Adamawa); retired Maj. Gen. Godwin Umo ( Akwa Ibom); Christopher J.N. Okeke (Anambra); Brig Gen Stanley Diriyai (Bayelsa); Dr Enyantu Ifeme (Benue); Dr Etuborn N.E Asuquo (Cross River); Engr. Francis Efeduma ( Delta); Mr Jonah Odo (Ebonyi); Uyagwe Igbe (Edo); Ayodele. L. Ayodeji (Ekiti); Maj. Gen. Chris Eze (Enugu); Alhaji Suleiman Hassan (Gombe), Amin Muhammad (Jigawa); Mohammed Yaro (Jigawa); Deborah lliya (Kaduna); Prof. D. Abdulkadir (Kano); Alhaji Haruna Ungogo (Kano); Justice Isa Dodo (Katsina); Adegboyega Ogunwusi (Osun); Barrister Sola Iji (Ondo);

Others are retired Major-General Ashimiyu Olaniyi (Oyo); Dr Haruna Bawa Abdullahi (Plateau); Orji Ngofa (Rivers); Justice Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor (Rivers); Jamila Ahmadu-Suka (Sokoto); Hon. Kabir Umar (Sokoto); Alhaji Mustapha Jaji (Taraba); Goni Modu Zanna Bura (Yobe); Alhaji Garba Gajam (Zamfara) and Cpt. Abdullahi Uba Garbasi (Zamfara).

LEADERSHIP Friday recalls that the Senate had earlier screened a list of 47 career ambassadors sometime in July this year, which is still awaiting confirmation.

Meanwhile, immediately after the Senate president finished reading the president’s letter containing the names, the senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Philip Aduda, protested the non-inclusion of any FCT native in the list of the nominees. Saraki acknowledged his point and promised to communicate his concern to the executive arm of government for possible correction
