The Desert Foxes of Algeria is set to name Belgian Georges Leekens as replacement for Milovan Rajevac who resigned after a game into the World Cup 2018 qualifying series.
The 67-year-old Lokeren coach is expected in Algiers on Thursday to finalise the deal.
Leekens was also briefly coach of Algeria for six games in 2003.
A former coach of the Tunisian national team also, he is expected to forward the list of players he wants to use for the game against Nigeria at in Uyo..
Nigeria currently lead Group B of the African World Cup qualifiers with three points ahead of Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia after one round of matches.
