Gernot Rohr leaving out home-based players over fitness issues

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play host to the Fennecs of Algeria in Uyo on Saturday, November 12 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ahead of the clash, it is believed that Rohr will leave out holidaying players of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

With the 2016 season over, Rohr does not trust the players to be fit for inclusion in the squad.

Five home-based players were invited for the away trip to Zambia although none played in the game.

“The players from the domestic league will be left out of the Algeria match because the season is over and the coach cannot vouch for their fitness,” a source is quoted to say by African Football.

“He would rather use the positions taken by these players from the league to try out some other professionals based overseas.”

Some foreign players who missed out on the Zambia game would be welcomed back to the squad.

Victor Moses (Chelsea), Isaac Success (Watford) and Oghenekaro Etebo (Feirense, Portugal) are all expected to make Rohr’s squad for Algeria clash.
