Wenger discusses Arsenal future, reveals team news

Arsene Wenger has discussed his Arsenal future, as well as revealing team news for the FA Cup fourth-round clash with Burnley.

Wenger’s current contract with the Gunners expires in 18 months and, with the manager celebrating 20 years in the job this October, speculation is rife as to his future.

The Frenchman is by far the longest-serving manager in the Premier and Football League, with Paul Tisdale of Exeter second. Tisdale was appointed Grecians manager in 2006.

Asked on his future at the Emirates Stadium, Wenger replied: “There’s 18 months left, that’s an eternity. I’m committed to this club.

“I’m completely focused on doing well. I want to give absolutely everything until the end.”

With Arsenal third in the Premier League and in the knockout stages of the Champions League, attention now turns to the FA Cup fourth-round game with Burnley on Saturday.

“We have to earn the right to qualify. I will make some changes for the game,” Wenger said, before confirming that David Ospina would start in place of Petr Cech, while Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin could feature.

On Kieran Gibbs, Wenger added: “Gibbs is a quality player. He will get games but there is competition.”

Wenger then confirmed that Carl Jenkinson has suffered a cruciate ligament injury while on loan at West Ham.
