Jose pens 'love letter' to United, claim denied

It’s no surprise to learn that Jose Mourinho really fancies the Manchester United gig, yet hearing that he wrote a six-page letter to the club to try and convince them to appoint him is really very funny indeed.

Football writer Miguel Delaney gained the exclusive, with the Independent on Sunday and ESPN both reporting the story.

The claim is that Mourinho has written Manchester United a six-page letter detailing his desire to replace Louis van Gaal, and how he would fit the club.

The letter also mentions details on exactly how he would improve the United squad and style.

If true, it would be a bold move from Mourinho, undermining a coach in Van Gaal who he is known to have great respect for.

The last paragraph is a clincher:

‘Mourinho feels the depth of his approach will finally prove persuasive in getting the job he was wanted for over a decade. He is said to be “relaxed” about his future in that regard.’
The response from Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes was brief but immediate:

“It does not occur to anyone that a coach like Jose Mourinho can write letters to clubs offering their services.

“It is absolutely ridiculous and totally absurd.”
