Twenty-three persons have picked nomination forms to contest in Ghana's presidential elections, scheduled to hold later this year, the Electoral Commission has said.
The figure consists of 16 political party presidential aspirants while seven are independent candidates.
The chair of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Charlotte Osei disclosed this during the launch of an electoral guide produced by the Commission.
Parties that have picked presidential nomination forms are the ruling National Democratic Convention,(NDC),New Patriotic Party, (NPP), Progressive People's Party, (PPP), National Democratic Party, (NDP), People's National Convention, (PNC), Democratic People's Party, (DPP), United Progressive Party, (UPP) and Independent People's Party (IPP).
Others include All People's Congress, (APC), United Front Party, (UFP), Democratic People's Party, (DPP), Great Consolidated Popular Party, (GCPP), Reform Patriotic Democrats, (RPD), United Love Party (ULP), Development System Party (UDSP) and Ghana Freedom Party (GFP).
The Independent Candidates are Jacob Osei Yeboah; Kwaku Antwi Owusu; Lawrence Yamil Nketia; John Alex Hamah; Major Ibrahim Rida (rtd); Kwame Asiedu Walker and Chief Dr. Yaw Kumi.
