Brazil Knocked Out Of Copa America After Loosing To Peru

Brazil have been knocked out of the Copa America after suffering a shock 1-0 loss to Peru.

The goal howbeit came in a controversial manner after it was deemed to be an handball.Raúl Ruidíaz scored a contentious close-range effort for Peru in the 75th minute, which had the referees deliberating for about four minutes before play resumed.Brazil’s players protested furiously, swarming around Cunha in a bid to persuade the official to reverse his decision.Yet after a chaotic delay of around four minutes – with players from both sides surrounding the referee – Cunha ruled the goal should stand.

Television pictures showed Ruidiaz grinning after the goal had been awarded but the Brazilian players were apoplectic with rage at a decision that sent them tumbling out of the tournament before the knockout stages for the first time since 1987.Elias then missed a golden opportunity to equalise for Brazil in injury time but he failed to connect properly with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Enner Valencia scored and had two assists to help Ecuador beat Haiti 4-0 on Sunday night and advance to the Copa America quarterfinals for the first time since 1997.Valencia fired in a low shot in the 11th minute, taking a long feed from Christian Noboa from the corner of the 6-yard box. Valencia then tapped a layoff to Jaime Ayovi for a roller past goalkeeper Johny Palcide about nine minutes later.Noboa and Antonio Valencia added goals in the 57th and 78th minutes
