A demurely dressed, but smiling Duchess Kate donned a red poppy on Saturday in honor of Britain's fallen soldiers.
With husband Prince William by her side, Kate attended the Festival of Remembrance in London, a somber affair begun after World War I that marks those who have fought for their country in past or present conflicts.
All wore red poppy pins to honor the soldiers, although the duchess wore a personalized, jeweled pin on her black lace Dolce and Gabbana dress. She and William joined Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip and other members of the royal family at the event, held at Royal Albert Hall.
The queen wore a cluster of three flower pins above a stunning diamond brooch.

This is the first time that William and Kate have attended the annual event, held by the British Legion. The charity raises money to help former members of the armed services.
On Thursday, Prince Phillip and a bearded Prince Harry marked the opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, laying commemorative crosses that added to a field 100,000 cross. Each cross held a poppy and a personal message, lanted by the Royal British Legion to mark Remembrance week.
On Sunday, Queen Elizabeth is expected to lay a wreath at London's Cenotaph in front of veterans, members military, and politicians from the country's leading parties.
