  Pep Guardiola has slammed suggestions his Manchester City stars are losing their discipline.

City have collected six red cards this season, including two on Saturday when Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho were sent off towards the end of a 3-1 Premier League defeat against Chelsea.

Aguero has received a four-match ban after being dismissed for a wild late challenge on David Luiz, having already served a three-game suspension this season for elbowing West Ham’s Winston Reid.

Oshoala, Oparanozie make All-Star team

  Asisat Oshoala is one of five Super Falcons players  named in the  CAF All-Star team at  the Cameroon 2016 African Women’s Cup of Nations.

Arsenal Ladies Oshoala emerged as the tournament’s highest scorer with six goals.

France-based striker  Desire Oparanozie, who scored the  goal  that helped  Nigeria to  defeat Cameroon 1-0 in  Saturday’s final, defender Osinachi Ohale, goalkeeper Alaba Jonathan and Francisca Ordega also made the list.

Consumption of ‘suya, isi-ewu, kilisi’ killing Nigerians – Health‎ minister

  Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole, has lamented the rate of death in Nigeria resulting from unhealthy diet.

According to Adewole, hypertension is the leading cardiovascular disease in Nigeria and can result in stroke if untreated.

He remarked that 1 in every 5 Nigerians is hypertensive and at risk of premature death.

Presenting the keynote address in Lagos, during the First Annual Black Tie Gala event organised by the Tristate Heart Foundation (THF), to raise N500 million in support of cardiovascular care in Nigeria, he observed that unhealthy diets contributed significantly to the development of non communicable diseaes in Nigeria.

MFM bought Prayer City land genuinely – Olukoya

   The General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, has dismissed a report that the church wrongly purchased the land which serves as the church camp.

The camp, popularly referred to as Prayer City, is located along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.

Olukoya, who spoke during the December edition of the monthly ‘Power Must Change Hands’ programme of the church on Saturday, said the church had a genuine Certificate of Occupancy of the land.

NYSC mourns, probes death of three corps members

   The National Youth Service Corps on Saturday expressed its regrets and condolences to the families of three corps members who died during the on-gong 2016 Batch ‘B’ (Stream I) Orientation Course in Bayelsa, Kano and Zamfara States respectively.

The organisation has also set up “a high-powered committee” to investigate the causes of the death of Chinyerum Nwenenda Elechi, Ifedolapo Oladepo and Monday Asuquo Ukeme deployed to the three States.

‘Falcons played classic Nigerian soccer’

   The  Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr  Yakubu Dogara, on Saturday commended the Super Falcons for emerging African champions for the 8th time.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan, Dogara said that  by winning the 2016 African Women’s Cup of Nations, the Super Falcons had made Nigeria  proud.

Zahra Buhari’s wedding reportedly postponed

The wedding ceremony of Zahra, the daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, has reportedly been postponed.

The ceremony, which was scheduled for this weekend, was moved as a result of President Buhari’s insistence on a low-key wedding for the 21-year-old bride to be, Daily Trust reported.

It was gathered that the president is uncomfortable with the attention the media is giving to the wedding especially recent reports about the groom’s family presenting 30 Louis Vuitton bags to Zahra.

NCC bows to pressure, suspends data tariff increase

  The Nigerian Communications Commission has suspended its directive to telecommunications operators to increase tariffs on data services available on their networks.

The suspension followed the uproar that the announcement of imposition of a price floor on the network operators has generated. The price floor, which would have taken effect today (Thursday) is about 200 per cent higher than what mobile telecommunications operators currently charge for data.

In a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs, NCC, Mr. Tony Ojobo, in Abuja on Wednesday, the commission said the decision to suspend the directive was taken after due consultation with industry stakeholders and in view of the general complaints by consumers across the country.

Victor Moses wins award

  Chelsea star Victor Moses has won the PFA Fans’ Premier League Player of the Month award for November, beating the likes of Sergio Aguero and Gylfi Sigurdsson, Skysports reports.

More than 40,000 votes were cast in the poll, which was held on the Sky Sports website and apps, with Moses claiming a landslide victory with 18,756 votes.

Swansea’s Sigurdsson came second with 7,791 votes, while Watford’s Nordin Amrabat was third with 5,378 votes. Rounding off the top six were Sunderland’s Victor Anichebe (3,642), Manchester City’s Aguero (3,457) and West Brom’s Matt Phillips (1,203).

Female corps member dies in Bayelsa camp

   Fear has gripped corps members at the Bayelsa State Orientation Camp at Kaiama, Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of the state following the death of a female member of the National Youth Service Corps, who reportedly died in a mysterious circumstance.

The female corps member, whose name was given as Miss Elechi Chiyerom, aged 27, was confirmed dead on Tuesday. She reportedly bled and vomitted  on arrival at the camp.

Brazilian soccer team's plane crashes in Colombia; 71 dead

   Colombian authorities searched for answers Tuesday into the crash of a chartered airliner that slammed into the Andes mountains while transporting a Brazilian soccer team whose Cinderella story had won it a spot in the finals of one of South America's most prestigious regional tournaments. All but six of the 77 people on board were killed.

The British Aerospace 146 short-haul plane declared an emergency and lost radar contact just before 10 p.m. Monday (0300 GMT Tuesday), according to Colombia's aviation agency. It said the plane's black boxes had been recovered and were being analyzed.

The aircraft, which departed from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, was carrying the Chapecoense soccer team from southern Brazil for Wednesday's first leg of the two-game Copa Sudamericana final against Atletico Nacional of Medellin. Twenty-one Brazilian journalists were also on board the flight.

‘Proposed data hike: Internet no longer for the poor’

   Some ICT stakeholders have expressed mixed reaction to the proposed increase in the cost of data by some telecommunication operators from Dec. 1, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Some telecommunication companies have been sending out messages to subscribers that they will increase data rate from Dec. 1, in line with the Nigeria Communications Commission’s order.

Mr Olusola Teniola, the President Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) said that with the increase, other telecom companies would jerk up their prices, which would adversely affect subscribers.

Igbo woman, Betty Chioma Akeredolu becomes Ondo State First Lady

   With the emergence of Rotimi Akeredolu as winner of the just concluded Ondo State Governorship election, his wife Betty Chioma Anyanwu-Akeredolu is set to become the First Lady of the State. Mrs. Akeredolu, who is currently the President of Breast Cancer Association, hails from Emeabiam in Owerri Local Government Area of Imo State. The couple are blessed with four children, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Jnr), Dr Teniola Akeredolu, Mrs.Yejide Runsewe and Babajide Akeredolu.

Neymar starts for Barca despite Ferrari smash

Brazilian star Neymar shrugged off a minor road accident that damaged his Ferrari Spider to start Barcelona’s clash with Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday.

The 24-year-old striker hit trouble driving to the Barcelona training ground in rain before the team flew to the northern city of San Sebastian for the match.

Catalan television TV3 showed images of a dent on the left front of the sports car, which was parked on the side of a road.

“He had a car accident but was not injured and was able to continue his trip,” a source close to the club told AFP.

Neymar took his place in an unchanged Barcelona team alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Earlier this week Spanish prosecutors asked for a two-year jail term and a 10 million euro ($10.6 million) fine on charges of corruption during his transfer from Brazilian club Santos to Barcelona.

Uganda is shutting down schools funded by Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates

  A legal tug-of-war between Ugandan authorities and a for-profit international chain of schools has led to the education provider being ordered to shut down in a matter of weeks, leaving the lives of thousands of pupils in limbo.

Uganda's High Court has described the Bridge International Academies (BIA) -- which is funded by the likes of Microsoft's Bill Gates and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg -- as unsanitary and unqualified, and has ordered it to close its doors in December because it ignored Uganda's national standards and put the "life and safety" of its 12,000 young students on the line.
The Director of Education Standards for the Ministry, Huzaifa Mutazindwa, told CNN that the nursery and primary schools were not licensed, the teachers weren't qualified and that there was no record of its curriculum being approved.
"The Ministry does not know what is being taught in these schools which is a point of concern to (the) government," Mutazindwa said.

Falcons thrash Kenya, face S’Africa in semis

   Nigeria on Saturday night defeated Kenya 4-0 in their last group match of the 2016 CAF African Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Goals from Washington Spirits forward, Ngozi Okobi; Pitea IF defender, Faith Ikidi; Arsenal Ladies forward, Asisat Oshoala; and Gungamp striker, Desire Oparanozie, gave the Super Falcons the three points against the Harambee Starlets, who were the whipping team of Group B.

The Falcons topped Group B with seven points – same as Ghana, who defeated Mali 3-1 in the group is other match – but with a superior goal difference. Mali finished third with three points while Kenya had no point to finish bottom of the group.

Victor Moses gives Chelsea victory over Tottenham

   Chelsea stormed back from behind to end Tottenham Hotspur’s unbeaten Premier League record with a 2-1 victory on Saturday that propelled Antonio Conte’s soaring side back into top spot.
