1. A top member of the dreaded Boko Haram group on the wanted list of the Nigerian Army has been arrested in Isua, Akoko South-East local government of Ondo State. The Boko Haram member, Idris Ibrahim Babawo, was arrested by vigilante group and handed over to the Police. The Police spokesperson in the state, Femi Joseph confirmed the arrest of Babawo. He said he had been handed over to the Military.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose will on Thursday, formally declare his intention to contest for the position of president of Nigeria in 2019, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The event will hold at Chelsea Hotel, Abuja. Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said the Governor Fayose, in a letter addressed to leaders of the PDP, declared that his ambition to be president was without prejudice to the party’s position, but in the overall interest of the party and Nigeria.
3. The Naira on Tuesday exchanged at N364 to the dollar at the parallel market as the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the CBN holds benchmark interest rate at 14 per cent. At the Bureau De Change (BDC) window, the Naira was sold at N362 to the dollar, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro traded at N492 and N436. Trading at the investor’s window saw the Naira closing at N306.05 and selling at N305.8 at the CBN official window.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it will return to court on Thursday to request the substituted service of the petition and documents on the recall of Senator representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye. The Commission said this became necessary after efforts to formally serve Senator Melaye the petition it received from his constituents to recall him met a brick wall. INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity Department, Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, made this known on Tuesday night.
5. Emmanuel, younger brother to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), has asked the Nigerian Army to produce his corpse if he has been killed. Kanu and his parents have allegedly gone missing, since the military raided their Afarakwu residence in Abia State on September 14. Speaking on behalf of the family on Tuesday, Emmanuel said he strongly believes his brother fell into the hands of the troops.

It was an obvious drama as Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial district abruptly rushed out of the senate session and went straight to his car which was already waiting at exactly 1. 50pm in order evade being served notice of recall by INEC officials who were at the National Assembly. The speed with which the embattled lawmaker came out of session attracted the crowd that had gathered to see the turn of events. The officials, however, failed to hand him the document as he ignored them and zoomed off.

The All Progressives Congress has in a statement described the Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), as a “rogue elephant” who does not have respect for President Muhammadu Buhari. The party, in a statement on Monday, accused Sagay of displaying arrogance and contempt for everyone but himself in a recent interview.
8. Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Tuesday, named Senators Andy Uba and Stella Oduah, as new chairmen of committees. The two lawmakers from Anambra state, were announced to replace two Senators sacked by the court. Uba was announced as chairman of the committee on interior, a position which George Sekibo, a Rivers Senator, held until he was ejected from the red chamber. Oduah is the new chairman of cooperation and integration committee as Abubakar Sani, a Senator who represented Taraba north, has lost his seat.

The chairman of the South-East Governors’ forum, Chief David Umahi has said the governors of the zone proscribed the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to save the lives of over 12 million of Igbos living in the northern Nigeria. He noted that the governors of the South-East had no apologies for saving the lives of the igbos.
10. Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has called up 23 players for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Chipolopolo of Zambia in Uyo on Oct. 7.
