Angelique Kidjo, Wole Soyinka, Darey, Nike Oshinowo, Kunle Afolayan, Mai Atafo, Others Stand Up For Etisalat Prize For Literature Winner, Songeziwe Mahlangu



Lagos|Nigeria: The second edition of the Etisalat Prize for Literature grand finale witnessed some of the biggest highlights of 2015 including vigourating performances from two Grammy award winner, Angelique Kidjo.



The event, which held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos had some of the biggest names in the literary, entertainment and telecommunications industry. Guests include renowned Nobel Prize for Literature winner, Wole Soyinka, Mathew Willsher, CEO Etisalat, Award winning actor, Kunle Afolayan, Nike Oshinowo, Darey Art Alade, Kelechi Amadi-Obi among many others.



The grand finale of which had three finalists,.... Battle for the prize money of 15,000 pounds and various opportunities to showcase their book to the international market saw South African writer, Songeziwe Mahlangu win the coveted prize.



Guests were also treated to pulsating re enactments of the final books, Penumbra, Happiness like Water and An Imperfect Blessing by OC Ukeje, Bimbo Manuel, Bimbo Akintola, Debbie Ohiri, Tope Tedela, Odenike Odetola and Omozo Shomolu.



Angelique Kidjo later closed the show with breathtaking performances of her all time-hit songs including Wobolombo, Agolo, Ever, Mama Africa among other hits.



Other guests include Reze Bonna, Sam Onyemelukwe, Tolu Ogunlesi, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, Bantu, Hauwa Mokan, Kemi Lala among many others.



Mahlangu now joins Zimbabwean NoViolet Bulawayo as the second winner of the annual pan African prize that promotes the work of published first time authors.
